THE BIBLE: REMIX
The Bible's most popular version, The New International version, will get its first revision in 25 years. The updated version will be non-gender specific,
The New International Version, is the version of the bible used by conservative Christian evangelicals, will be revamped to include modern changes in the English language. The newer copy is slated for a 2011 debut.
"We want to reach English speakers across the globe in an accurate and accessible language that they can understand", says Global President and CEO of Biblical.
Controversy is sure to erupt over the new language that will be used in the newer version of the Bible. For example, you will no longer see passages like "son of GOD", which is deemed gender-specific, but instead passages like "children of God", which are non-gender specific!
Supporters say that the non-gender specific speech makes it easier to relate to by all people and critics say that the removal changes the intended meanings of the scriptures.
I say "if it’s not broke, don't fix it!" The Bible has been received and understood by millions for centuries, why change the format?? God is a lover and creator of all, so why would any person feel singled out due to the name-dropping of gender....I distress! Those people need to leave well enough alone!
